SOME PEOPLE CALL IT - CONSERVATION “CONS” COLLIER. Why?

Preservation of land is not considered a Collier County Government Essential Service needed by the residents of Collier Co. It is considered a responsibility of the State of Florida.

Lands purchased by Conservation Collier are removed from the property tax rolls. Resident’s property taxes are increased to offset the loss of money.

Conservation Collier takes money out of the working resident’s pockets through property taxes for things not needed during the stressful economic times of the Corvin 19 pandemic.

The DEP & SFWMD already protect wetlands as do the US Army Corps of Engineers in Collier County via Wetland Mitigation Banks, not using residential property taxes.

Commissioner McDaniel wants to use Conservation Collier to help the Developers accelerate growth and make more profit by allowing Developers to convey property to get TDR #3 in the RFMUD. View BCC meeting 07/14/20.

But the BIGGEST REASON to consider voting “NO” for Conservation Collier – 80% of Collier County is already preserved. See the attached map prepared by Collier County Growth Management Division in 2018.
